I keep hitting a blue screen and having an automatic reset occur after the win 7 loading screen. I managed to disable the auto-reset so I could read the error message.

It says:

A problem has been dtected and Windows has been shut down to prvent damage to your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF880009A97E8, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000 ).

I have already tried running chkdsk /f in command prompt and system restore (it couldn't find any places to restore from).

Please help, this is really important. Thank you!

hi there,

did your pc fall on the ground or hit the table too hard ?
Sometimes the HDD gets a hit and becomes unreadable.

Did you try to put the HDD from that PC in SLAVE to another PC and tried to access it ?
you might backup your data. and maybe make a partition copy while on the other PC ?

Let us know !
Cheers, Louise.

Hi, thanks for the reply Louise. I didn't do anything like that. I think I may have caused this error by accidentally compressing my C drive recently (I stopped it early on but it may have already compressed/corrupted the boot files somehow?)

I followed this advice (found elsewhere) to fix it:

"insert your OS CD
go to DOS window and type in your OS drive (usualy C:\)
type in bootrec /FixMbr
then type in bootrec /fixboot
then type in bootrec /rebuildbcd
then type in exit
restart your computer"

(I made a win 7 boot usb).
