What kind of things do I need for building a computer

I don't know much about this kind of stuff I don't know much about all the different items but, I am getting it built but I don't know what to tell them, I talked to my teacher and he gave me some items but I don't know what kind or what else I need for being able to run big games like Skyrim and Minecraft, and other big games.

What I have from my teacher:
AMD processor
16 GB of ram
Windows 7 - 64
CPU cooler
2 GB graphics card


I also have a 700-800$ budget.

Seeing as you have 16GB of RAM. You will need a motherboard that supports 16GB. Possilbe 4x4GB. I use the GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3P however your CPU may not fit into the CPU socket of that motherboard. The GIGABYTE motherboard here has an AM3+ socket so you will need a CPU that supports that. It has a PCIx16 slot so it supports most high-end graphics cards as well. However, if you're going to use it for gaming, I would go for Intel and Nvidia. Get an intel processor and a nvidia graphics card with a motherboard that supports the socket for the chosen intel CPU.

So you don't know what processor you have?
Motherboard and processors are different.
You have an AMD processor, i was asking what the model number was.

I don't have any of the things yet, i'm going to a gaming place to tell them what I want and they will build it.

I'd recommend Intel and Nvidia if you want to go for gaming. Even an i3 Dual Core and Nvidia GTX 660 Ti will do the job for most of the modern games. It's all about what you want though, bro. Your choice.
