New pc build won't boot from old SSD with W8.1

Alright, so I've bought and built a brand new PC. I got a fancy new case, motherboard and cpu, gfx card, ram, and of course a psu. The hard drives I transfered from my old PC. I thought this might cause trouble, but I found some info saying that W8 should not have issues:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_install/can-i-move-my-hard-drive-installed-with-windows-8/7c25c362-5d92-4203-8ee3-706ff1876969

Well, that turned out not to be true in my case. I have one SSD with Windows 8.1 on it, and two internal hard drives. I hooked everything up but when I power up, before it ever gets to Windows I get an error:

0xc000000f, boot selection failed because a required device is unaccessible (translated from Dutch).

"Can't boot Windows. This may be due to changed hard- or software."

It also says I can try using the Windows disc to repair my installation. I want to do that, the only problem is I didn't install a DVD drive (I haven't used my old one in years). I wanted to install my old drive to remedy this, but it's an IDE and the new motherboard has no IDE connector. So, I figure I'll have to get a new one.

Now if I do, there might be another issue: my Windows 8 was a digital upgrade from a W7 installation from DVD (neither are OEM). So if I run the recovery, that'll be a W7 one. Do you reckon that will be a problem in this case?

So, I have 3 questions:

1. Am I doing something wrong and can I solve this error without using the recovery from the dvd?
2. Will the recovery even work from a W7 disk?
3. If not, I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and do a complete reinstall. Any advice with regards to saving my data now that I can't access it?

Solution
hii,
there are ways to make an old installation of Windows 8.1 to run on a new PC, but I don't ever go that path.
the best option which will guarantee long term stability of your computer, is to perform a fresh install.
you can try to boot to a live ubuntu flash drive and recover your data.
or you can hook up the SSD and one of your other HDDs to the old computer and copy paste your data to the HDD.
or you can temporarily install Windows on one of the two HDDs in the new computer, boot to it and copy paste data from the SSD.
Before you format and install Windows, it's best to unplug the two HDDs from the computer. Connect only the SSD, install Windows, and when you have completed the installation (Windows only, not software/ drivers)...

Just an update - a night's sleep gave me another idea. I should still be able to hook up my SSD to my old rig. Perhaps if I installed the new motherboard's drivers from the old system, then put it back into the new system?

And no, unfortunately a Windows 8.1 installation cannot be repaired with a Windows 7 disk, you'll need a Windows 8.1 disk.
