6770 1GB Crossfire vs 7790/R7 260X 1GB

So I have these options available. They work out at the same price from where I'm buying from.

Which will perform better?

Please don't comment about how bad crossfire is, and the issues related, I know about this. I want to know head to head which of those 2 configurations would win.

crossfiring would the be the best option but will mean a better PSU

I haven't got personal experience, but general internet opinion is that the R7 260X would deliver the best performance. It would also be most power efficient, quieter (brand dependent) and besides the point the 6770 is obsolete now, so there is every reason to buy the newer cards.

Me personally would go straight for the 260x, i'm going for the single 2GB sapphire version within the month.

In terms of all the cards being in crossfire the same result as above would be true, the 260x I would say would be best if you were to crossfire it instead of cross-firing the 6770. If price is an issue then you have to make the best decision based on budget, but if you're thinking on cross-firing you will experience issues compared to a single card, if money isn't an issue here then from all this i would recommend a 780Ti simple as that.

Single R7 260X/HD 7790 is much better.

Can you extend on that a bit? From what Benchmarks I've seen the 6770 sits somewhere between the 7750/R7 250 and the 7770/R7 250X.

So how is it that 2 of those wouldn't beat out the R7 260X/7790?

crossfiring those card will pull ahead of the 260x by a tiny bit but you wont have the feature of mantle and you will get microstuttering and your PSU has to be able to handle it

Crossfire performance increase is not linear, 2 of one card will give you up to 75% more performance in the best case, more often about 30%-50%. All of that depending on the game and the driver most have a crossfire profile for a game you want to play, if there's no profile, the game will use only 1 GPU.

Crysis 2? Looked good... no doubt...but one of the worst shooters I have ever played......hate the Crysis series.

As for the performance difference on older games, what will it be like?

it will not be that bad youll get very good FPS with like skyrim, BF3 and games older but microstuttering can happen when one of the GPU gets a little hot, also to mention GPU's will get very hot when crossfired so make sure you crank up the fan speed on the bad boys

Where are you getting the duel 6770's from and how much for? Because if you can get them cheaper than the single 260X, and can put up with the mammoth of problems with crossfire then go for that, however if you're only getting one 6770 and getting the other one in the future, then just go for the single 260X. I know you said no chance of crossfiring in the future which just makes me wonder how you can get two 6770's?

Yes, and it doesn't require a crossfire bridge.

But in that case, selling it and buying a stronger card will still be a better solution.
