I was running Sid Meiers Civilization V and the game normally runs just fine, and albeit with the use of mods sometimes it can freeze, my game froze, and then i tried to use Alt-Tab but it didn't work. Then I used the power button to force a shut down.
Next time i try to start the laptop, the "WInload.efi is missing" error comes up. Then I try starting in safemode, that won't happen. Then another thing pops up on the recovery screen, "A required device is missing or isn't connected", or I get the words "Recovery" at the top with a blank blue screen.
Then with no way to figure out how to fix this, I used my PS3 to download Ubuntu and install. During the install, Ubuntu said "No Operating System Detected" on my HDD. And my HDD was completely free. Meaning all my files were gone because a game froze?

Approx 6GB Ram (I think,)
AMD/ATI Trinity Graphics Card
Windows 8.1 at the time of crash
