Is LG 23M45VQ-B good for gaming?

So I need to get a new monitor because the one I'm using at the moment is borrowed from a friend.
The one I'm borrowing is a HP ZR2440W (24", IPS, 60Hz, 1920 x 1200, 6ms GTG) and I don't want to really downgrade, but my budget is very limited (under $165) and since I want to keep my resolution at or above 1920 x 1080 and the size at about 24' or 23" my options are quite small.

I found these two monitors;

But my worry about these are that they are not IPS monitors and I'm not sure if they would have a good contrast ratio.
I play games like Rust, CSGO, The Forest. In rust and the forest, there are times when colours and brightness get hard to see (night time) and I will want to still be able to see the enemy easily with my new monitor.

So are these good alternatives for the monitor I'm borrowing (within my price range) or are there better ones out there that I could get? (keep in mind I live in Australia if you are going to recommend a monitor)

I think you mean gaming at 1920 x 1080.

Either of the LG monitors should be fine, and work within your budget. Their contrast ratios are 50000000:1, which while not the highest spec available, should be good, and are higher than the HP you have been using.

I would also look at the Viewsonic VA2455sm, which here in the US is $149 for a 23.6" display.

From wat I have read the contrast ratio number is for marketing and is practically a made up number in the best conditions possible, so you can't just rely on the number because different companies use a different test and in different conditions. Also the HP is a IPS monitor so wouldn't this effect the contrasts as well?

IPS monitors do have more accurate colors, and better contrast. However, with your budget, I do not think you can get a name brand IPS display with that size and resolution.

But I read reviews on it and they say that it isn't very good and since it's so cheap, a TN monitor will be better quality. Although I am still considering this one because Others were reviewing it as good, but I need to know how good it is for gaming.

I would stick with the TN panel at your price point.
