For some time I've had a problem where I've had to toy with the power supply because the computer would just wouldn't stay on. The power would come on for a few seconds and than just cut off. I thought it was the power supply but when I put in a new one the same thing happened. I will say that I need to clean the inside it's quite dirty and dusty. What could be causing this?

Definitely clean the whole computer out. Vacuum out the dust that you can, wipe down more of it, and blow the rest of it out. The dust is not helping anything, and may be contributing to heat buildup and causing this.

Any idea of the CPU temps if/when this system runs?

I don't know the cup temps, but it should be fine. I will give the rig a good cleaning. The CPU fan is very dusty. I'll see how it runs once I do this. Before last week I would never turn my computer off I would just put it in sleep mode whenever I went out for long hours. Because if turn it off it's very hard to put it back on.

Well I cleaned it and it's doing the same thing. So apparently it's not the power supply. The CPU cannot be overheating. I have plenty of ventilation. What could it be?

It's working now, but I'm afraid to turn it off. So I'll keep it on sleep mode for now. That paper clip trick is really neat. I have to remember that one. Are there other tools like Speed Fan to monitor temperatures?
