A cryorig h5 will cool better than the 212 evo for under $50. So will the scythe kotetsu. If your case is big enough, a thermalright true spirit 140 power tends to beat out the noctua nh-d14 for around $50. I think it's 170mm tall though and most of the bigger air coolers are around 160mm.

Noctua do make some nice quality fans, I'll give them that. But agreed, their color scheme while original and easily identifiable looks like something homegrown from mother earth news. Not my fave color scheme either.
