2tb WD Passport Ultra keeps showing up in device manager but not disk management and not on my computer. How do I access it? Have already tried removing it from device manager and then restarting the computer and plugging it in again.

Hey there, lpeyt9ml!

I'm very sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport Ultra! :(
I'd suggest to try using a different USB cable.
If that doesn't help, I'd also try plugging it in another computer to see if it will get recognized there.
Is it a new external hard drive or you have data on it?

Another thing you should try is installing Data LifeGuard Diagnostics to test the drive's health.
Here's a link to the utility: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=u5AtY0

Keep me posted! Hope this helps you!

You can try with any USB 3.0 cable for the troubleshooting, if you have a spare lying around somewhere.
Otherwise, the Power booster cable might also help you resolve the issue.
I'd suggest to get in touch with our tech support for this. They might be able to help you with the cable if your My Passport is still under warranty.

Hope this helps. :)

Diagnostics is not going to work with this problem. Did I you try to go into computer management and restarting the shell hardware detection? When my passport ultra was not being detected I restarted the shell and it detected it after. I ran a quick diagnostics and it was good. But trying to run the diagnostics first would not work because it is not detected on the computer. So try this method first.

How do you "restart the shell hardware detection" ?
