■ I have a i7-4790k and a Zotac GTX 970 amp extreme. I've decided to finally go with asus mobo and the three are in my list.

1)ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO
2)ASUS MAXIMUS VII RANGER
3)ASUS Z97-A

The Z97-A is the cheapest followed by RANGER then HERO.

But all have almost the same specs except for some sata ports, some extra display compaitbility, usb ports and the audio codec SupremeFX.

Is that the only difference in the three. Ranger and Hero are surely good looking and in the ROG series. But what makes them different from z97-A? I want a detailed difference and want to know are they worth the money and how are they all different.

Like if Ranger is better than z97-a, how? and if hero is better than ranger, how? They all have almost 45-50$ difference. I'm from india and the z97-a is around 13,500 INR and the Ranger about 16,000 INR and the Hero Around 19,000 INR . I had my budget last till 16000 INR and the Ranger and z97-a land in my budget. But is the Hero worth breaking my budget line. I can if it really deserves it.

Z97-A is the best value for money of the 3. The ROG boards have beefier power phases allowing you to get a higher, more stable overclock. Only Hero/Ranger if you are overclocking an i7 on water since anything else probably won't push the motherboard as far.
