Gpu or psu is making a metallic whirring sound when I open up a game

When I open up a game my computer starts to make a weird sound before even if I'm just on the title screen, I not sure if its the gpu or the psu. I suspect the psu does not put out enough power for my computer but I have no way of knowing.
My specs are
cpu: Intel i5-4430
gpu: nvidia geforce 970
psu: corsair cx500
Mobo: asus h81m-plus

I'm not sure if this is relevant but I have a 120gb ssd and a 1tb hdd, zalman z11 case with stock fans and a cooler master heatsink on my cpu.

The noise has only started recently and all of these parts a new.

I doubt that the SSD is making the noise... Mostly it is either the fans of the GPU/PSU/CPU colliding with some surface or wire at higher RPMs..
In my experience, I think it is the GPU fans causing the problem since I too faced the same problem a while back...
The GPU fans when spinning at high RPMs would collide with the GPU case and produce a noise during high loads... I made minor adjustments to the setup by loosening some screws in the GPU and the noise was gone... It also depends on the orientation of the GPU inside the case...
I would suggest you take apart the components one by one and investigate...
For e.g. remove the 1tb mechanical hard disk first and then try to reproduce the problem, then do the same for GPU...
You can find out the culprit easily using this method...

The fans on my gpu are not spinning when the noise starts, so I'm pretty sure it is not them, also the noise does not sound like something is colliding it almost sounds electrical. (if that makes sense)

Hmm... In that case please try removing the components one by one and checking for the noise... You can do that for the HDD and GPU... but for the PSU, you will need to borrow one from another PC temporarily...
That way you could isolate the component causing the problem...
Do let us know if you were able to figure out the problem...

Thank you for your help but as it turns out I'm an idiot and made a big deal out of a something minor. It was just coil whine and its fixed now.
