I recently had to reformat my hard drive after a MS update stopped me accessing the internet... I couldn't find any other workable solution. Consequently my bios reverted to the original and now I find I cannot update. My PC currently crashes when loading game programs or updates, and freezes when playing Rome2.

My motherboard is an ASUS P7P55D-LE and I have downloaded the appropriate file: P7P55D-LE-ASUS-2003 and put on a USB drive. The bios is an AMI version 2003 16/12/2010.

I have tried a few attempts at loading the new bios at boot up and everything seems fine when loading and auto reboot, but it doesn't take. I have read that I need to change the ROM file name, but I am not sure to what?

Any suggestions please? Thanks in advance for the help.

Solution
Try leaving single RAM module and test. Try also different graphics card (borrow one, if possible). Reinstalling Windows might also help.

Sorry I didn't make that clear. The current BIOS is the AMI version 2003 16/12/2010, the update is the P7P55D-LE-ASUS-2003.

Ah, I assumed because there were so many versions and the date on the 2003 was later than my 2003 it was my update. Thank you.

I have now updated the BIOS with 2101. Unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem of BSOD crashes and freezes. So now I am searching for another solution to that problem. Is there anything more I can do with the BIOS to help?
