Upside down? There should be 2 cables attached to a single plastic piece for the power button. One is the negative lead and the other is the positive. They correspond to certain pins on the motherboard and must be connected correctly to function.

To test if your rig can power up without using the case's power button, push the power button on the motherboard.

Hi

The power and reset do not have positive & negative connections
but the LEDs for power hard disk activity definitely do

Is the screen connected to the motherboard or graphics card ?
See the faq on subject

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1893016/post-system-boot-video-output-troubleshooting-checklist.html

Follow all steps in faq and you get down to faulty motherboard or cpu

It helps if you have a known good psu , a speaker or pietso electronic speaker and a spare power push switch
As many cases no longer have built in speakers

Best of luck

Check the jumper on the MOBO, I had mine in the wrong place when I built mine and I just had to move it back. Other than that check all your connections. I like to make a checklist and check everything off one by one before booting. That way I know all the wiring is correct. Also check for shorts, like an errant standoff. Not likely but could also be a DOA MOBO or PSU.
