I'm planning on building a PC in the future and I need help coming up with a build that's within my 1700-2000 dollar budget that can run games smoothly at 1440p while maintaining 60fps or more. I also need a OS keyboard, mouse, a monitor in the budget

Can the single GTX 970 handle 1440p at around 60fps?

Admirable

Yes it can, if you add a 2nd one later, you'll game at 1440p ultra settings with no problems.
