I was wanting to overclock my amd fx 8300 and my wondering if this cpu cooler would work?

Solution
First off, I have noticed better temps off my FX-6300 with my 120mm AIO from thermaltake then I did my old 212 Evo, and even though it goes against what tiny voices said, its true, and people have found liquid loops to cool better then air just because of how heat is transferred. Annnnnnnnyyyyyyyyways, that cooler would work fine, but I wouldn't OC on that motherboard because the 970 chipset for the AM3+ socket was meant for budget systems, and thus may have issues supporting the increased power load to the cpu. Also, another thing about the 970a-g46 is the lack of vrm heatsinks (may have been the g43 actually, but I believe they both shared this issue) so that will cause north bridge temps to spike which is not exactly the best thing...
I wouldn't use that. Forst off it is not very good. A simple $30 Coolermaster hyper 212 EVO performs better. Secondly, I do not like water coolers on AMD builds because the VRMs do not get any cooling at all. This is important as VRMs and the northbridge on AMD boards get VERY hot and need proper cooling. Air coolers are always recommended for AMD builds. You really need to spend over $100 on a closed loop water cooler before it makes any sense. Air beats all water coolers for less money and less noise under the $100 mark.

So, unfortunately my recommendation is to ditch the 970 board if possible unless the OC you plan to do is super super mild.

(P.s: my AIO cooler with push pull fans at 2000 rpm's a piece is quieter than my old 212 evo with push pull fans also.)
