If space is not a big issue, then I would go this route.

Speakers: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DP5NH5C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Amp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L7D9PJQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

RCA cable: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YEBK66/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Speaker Wire: http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-16-Gauge-Speaker-Wire-Feet/dp/B006LW0W5Y/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1420701237&sr=1-4&keywords=12+gauge+speaker+wire

That setup will sound a lot better and get a lot louder. I have been using this setup (minus that particular speaker wire) for about a month now and love it. It's around $135 before tax. If you just want some plug and play speakers around that price range look up the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 or Logitech Z623.

Well space is kind of an issue and that's why I want a 2.0 system.
