I have an asus z97 sabertooth mark 2 motherboard and a fractal design r4 case. The standoffs will not align and I think I am ruining my motherboard trying to get it aligned. I don't know if there is an incompatibility or what. I definitely have the standoffs installed correctly and I don't know how durable a motherboard is but this is driving me crazy thinking i have ruined my motherboard. It seems like the foam/whatever is on the backplate for the motherboard is what is obstructing it but i can't remove that and probably wont.

- I thought backplate and I/O shield are the same thing if that's what you mean, it is whatever covers all the ports you plug into at back of pc case. I just checked and they do line up without the I/O shield, so it is definitely the I/O shield that is causing the problem, probably the extra padding on it that wasn't accommodated for with the case, what should I do. The shield is pushed in as far as it can go and i made sure of that

I don't know if it can be pulled off and i don't think it should be pulled off. The user guide doesn't say anything about that, but if thats my only solution I guess i'll have to

thats what it looks like, it is there for reduced interference I guess, probably just have to peel it off anyway.

Yeah pretty much, i'd have to force it really hard against the i/o shield and have multiple people help me if i wanted to screw the motherboard in place into the standoffs

Ok finally, i managed to get it in place with all the standoffs aligned and still keeping that silly padding on it. Do they need to be screwed in tight and will it matter if i'm missing one screw? (which i am). Hopefully I didn't do any harm to the motherboard through this all
