Hi,

like the title said:
i got a 512GB SSD which i want to split into 2 partitions.

How big do i need to make the one for windows?
It should suffice for win 8.1 pro and all updates for the next 4 years or so.
A little headroom would be nice.

Would 100GB suffice?

It depends on the applications (plus games) you may/will install. If the SSD is on a desktop PC, I'd recommend just keeping the SSD entirely for windows and applications and get a secondary drive (HHD) for file storage.

But should you still want to split the SSD, I'd halves the partitions equally and adjust accordingly overtime due to how the data is filling up.

So you suggest i juse half of a 512 GB SSD for windowns ( all other stuff go's on second partition ) .
Isn't 256 GB storage for windows a bit too much?

I was doubting between 100 , 125 or 150 GB.

Yes, 256 for the OS and the remainder for data storage, that's how I'd do it. 265 can be too much or less depending on the type of user you are and the apps you install on the primary partition.

What's the primary usage for your PC?
