Can I replace my gt70 0ne primary msata ssd with a 2.5" ssd instead?

Hi all,

Given the cheaper price/gb for a 2.5" ssd over msata ssd, I am inclined to replace my current Adata 128gb msata ssd with a 2.5" Samsung evo 840.

Been reading around and understand msata has a different connector. Do I need a adaptor or something to replace it with a 2.5" ssd?

But no, the space for the msata drive will not allow a 2.5" drive to fit.

You may have an option on installing the 2.5" SSD into one of the hdd bays, depending on which model you have...

Hey thx popatim. I'm using the MSI GT70 0NE-452US i7 4GB NVIDIA GTX 680M SSD 17.3".

You can certainly do this if you physically have room for the 2.5" disk. You would need an adaptor such as http://www.scan.co.uk/products/lycom-st-168m-msata-ssd-to-25-sata-drive-converter-with-25-frame

But be aware that some mSATA sockets are SATA II speed only. It would be better to use a free SATA III connector if you have one.
