I'm new to this, need new pc and thinking about rebuilding my xps.
I play WOW and Skyrim, have been having bad lag problem with wow.
will the following work and is it worth it or should I buy a pre built?
ASUS Z97A
Intel I5 4690
Nvidia GTX 760
Crucial Ballistix sport 8BF DDR3 1600mhz
WD Blue 1TB
XFX 550 Watt

I have always loved my XPS and want something that at the least performs the way it used to.

Thanks for any feedback

Its a pre-build that he already owns.

How much you looking to spend?

The best way to wake up that old xps is to add a 256gb - 512gb Solid State Drive to put your games on it. Your graphics card is not all that bad and WoW is not a very GPU demanding game.

it's from bits & pieces of pre builds that i've looked at. i actually purchased windows 7 64bit to do a complete install over the 32 bit vista that's on it hoping that would fix the problems but started researching rebuilds, if my original plan doesn't work then i wasted $100 on W7, don't know if i should install it or get a new motherboard and start from scratch

Whats your budged ?
Windows 7 is vastly superior to vista so it wasen't bad buy however windows 8.1 in some cases proves to have better performance in gaming and windows 10 is around the corner...

No , you shoud build a new system and install your win 7 .
I will make you a rig tomorrow so you can have a guideline but you can start
reading some builds for 800$ that are already solved in tomsharware
