USB Stick wont detect on Linux?

When I plug my 4GB memory stick Linux won't detect it. It detects my Disk drive fine (Meaning it will refresh when when I put in a disk and take it out) but my USB stick wont detect. I also know the USB stick works because I used it to install Linux in the first place.
 
Solution
First, you need to find out what name your device has. Look at the last few lines of the /var/log/messages file. Next, you need to mount the USB device. Learn how to do that here:
