I am attempting to overclock my Fx8350 as current idle and load temperatures are all very good at stock (25-30c idle 46c under 30min prime stress test)
My problem however is that i am unable to change any of my bios settings for overclocking. I can see the options i wish to change however i am unable to click or select them in order to adjust.
My bios version F1 that came pre loaded however i am reluctant to flash my bios as i am unsure as to this being the cause of the problem.
I am using admin access in the bios as well so this should not be the issue.

Build:
-Fx 8350 Black Edition (unlocked)
-Gtx 970 MSI
-Gigabyte 970 ds3p
-550W Corsair VS
-Zalman CNPS5X Performa Cpu Cooler
-8gb 1333mhz ram
-Windos 7 64bit Professional

Granted it isnt the greatest board when it comes to overclocking however i have seen people successfully overclock on this board my intentions are only to go around 4.5ghz. Futhermore i am simply looking for a fix/reasoning behind why this is occurring :na:

Quick update found out my bios is currently version f2j, also i tried installing easytune that came with my motherboard to see if that would allow me to change any overclock settings however they are blocked out aswell and i am unable to change.

May i have question on you,i have similar setup as you,and would like to know what is new in bios F2J ? Could you tell me if you have some problems or instability issues on that bios and what about performance of FX8350 is better or same ?

The board will run a 8350 fine - bios options are locked out because it has a strict tdp limit of 140w.this was included in the last 3 bios revisions as far as a safety measure. Its a 4+1 phase board + your zalman is fine for overclocking a 6 core but not the 8 cores anyway.

If you dropped a 95w chip like the 6300 in the manual oc options automatically unlock.

YESTERDAY: Bios version F1: Phenom 955@ 4.0GHz with no problem. Totaly stable @ +0.125Vcore. Air cooled with 2 fans on scythe mugen2 cooler. Temps are under 50°C.
TODAY:-updated bios to F2j, I CAN change the CPU core multiplyer to 20X, but resulting frequency stays the same stock 3.2GHz. It wont apply my overclock settings. It also undervolts memory to ~1.46V, I had to increase DDR Voltage to +0.5V! to achieve stock 1.512V! -F2j Bios revision is BETA!-(it says so on gigabyte's web site).
F2j Bios is crap! -Fx8350 is fully supported with board's factory shipped F1 bios version, so I suggest to downgrade from F2j. You only need to update to F2j BETA IF YOU HAVE AN FX8570, which U dont. And now, I'm going to revert to F1 IMMEDIATELY!

I've "updated" bios to factory F1 revision, and achieve 4.0GHz with ease with my Phenom 955. This motherboard still undervolts the ram (1.464V), so I've increased voltage to 1.540V to get 1.5V on DIMM's.
Jacques, when U finish with bios update, you MUST set OnChip SATA Type to AHCI if you installed windows with AHCI mode enabled, otherwise you won't be able to boot the OS (it is factory set to IDE mode). Do this ONLY if you were on AHCI before, othervise leave it to IDE. Also, set the vCore loadline calibration to regular.
