So I started using my own gear instead of renting from Northland Cable and my setup worked fine in the living room when I was usually gaming on the PS4 or Xbox 1, but recently I moved it back to my bedroom to my PC and updated the router firmware and that's when the issues started. The issue is that my router seems to be restarting on it's or losing connection causing it to reset basically. I have my router setup with my modem and PC in a LAN setup and it works mostly but occasionally will do the whole reset thing, but the main issue is that my laptop sometimes won't pick up the WiFi signal and when it does the router always restarts/loses connection. My phone is able to link to the WiFi as far as I know and it doesn't cause issues I believe. I've tried contacting ASUS and they told me just to update the firmware or go back to the last version which I tried and the issues still persisted, I've tried contacting Northland broadband support and they just tried restarting the signal which did nothing so now I have a tech coming out to see if he can do anything. I looked into the routers system log and a couple lines I noticed had repeated themselves, "Received signal 15 good-bye" and "ISP's DHCP did not function properly". I'm more of a hardware guy then networking hence why I turned to you guys for some help. I can post the system log from the router and or the log from 192.168.100.1 if needed.

Well, that's pretty weird, I have that router and the first one I got had a strange problem. Mine was a "jammer", literally jams my video signal preventing my PC from showing any display pass the windows boot logo. So I replaced it by going back to Bestbuy and now it works. But I've never heard of your problem, if the guy that's coming over can't figure it out, you should replace it if it's not outside of 30 day return period. Or replace it by using Asus warranty if it is.

So I know this is late, but just wanted to answer this and close it in case someone else does a forum search down the road. I was accidentally using my modem cable plugged into my router and router cable plugged into the modem. I guess the modem cable just wasn't flowing enough power one way or another so maybe the router had a self shutdown due to not enough power or something, but ever since I switched the cables back into the right things it's worked fine and haven't had a problem since. Felt like an idiot when I realized what I had done when I was unplugging it to take it back to Best Buy haha.
