Iomega external hard drive

I have been using my Iomega external hard drive for my xbox360 for about a year. I have had a few problems where it will not show up in my storage device list. It usually shows back up after I unplug it a few times and re-insert it back into the port but for about twenty four hours I have been unable to get it to recognize that it is plugged in. The hard drive's power light is showing, so I know it is connected but it isn't being recognized by the console itself. What are some suggestions as to what I do next?

Hey Thegodfather1336. I'd suggest that you try the drive with another device, preferably a computer and with a different USB cable (not longer than 12"). If it's recognized on a computer, I'd also recommend that you download a diagnostic tool and test your drive with it, to see what's the situation.
