Hey everyone,

I am buying this CPU for my build tomorrow i pull the trigger on everything! pretty excited :p

I was just curious since i have never overclocked b4 (i am getting a z97 mobo in case you were wondering) I wanted to find out what are the realistic stable overclock numbers for this CPU?

Just wanted to hear from people who have experience overclocking their cpu's.... would it be far fetched to think i can get 4.0ghz as a stable overclock? or less / more?

Thanks for your time guys and have a good1

It all depends on your cooler. I would not use a stock one for OC. Provided you get a decent one (at least Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO), 4 GHz is actually easily achievable. From reviews, many samples can reach 4.5GHz on air no problem, but start requiring too much voltage after that. Realistically, you can expect anything in the range from 4-4.5GHz without going above 1.3V. The exact number depends on your luck (quality of your sample).

Thanks for the feedback, I am sticking with the stock cooler ATM but will be getting a 212 Evo from cooler master soon, even though it's not that much trying to stick to my budget :p

My build is like 950 bucks, gonna be pushing the button tomorrow
