Choosing the right computer cables

A lot is understandably made about choosing the right computer components. I was wondering if it matters what internal/external cables you use or if there isn't much impact on performance from cable quality?

Well depends on what cables you are referring to?

For the internal assembly of the machine, all the cables you need will be included with the motherboard / power supply and so on so it's unusual to have to choose them (the ones supplied will be of the correct specification for the equipment their supplied with).

One area where cables *are* very important is for audio equipment- low quality cables can add noise and reduce sound quality if you were wiring up a surround sound system with long cable runs.

No don't worry about cables, you get what you need included with the components and there is nothing to gain by paying loads for fancy pants cables. The main reason to purchase cables separately is if you care about what they look like (colour, texture etc).

Feel free to post the components you have chosen if you want some feedback.
