So something is up with my HDD its a WD green 1tb WD10EZRX. So for some time now it went to as low as 100gb left in the HDD and just today it went back up to 470gb I did not install or uninstall anything when my hdd space was draining, During that time I thought it was breaking or something screwed up in it so I ordered another HDD. Can someone tell me what took so much space in my hdd? Like I'm all happy and all but still worried that it will start draining space again over 370gb space just came back to me. Wondering what was the cause.

Hey there, SleepyDoughBol!

Archaic59 is right, it is most probably the RAM causing this issue with your WD Green drive.
You can also try running some cleaning third-party utilities to delete the junk files that might be taking up space.
I'd also advise you on scanning for malware/viruses, because they can also be the reason for an HDD to lose capacity randomly.
You should check this threads for other ideas: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/246598-45-disappearing-hard-drive-space

You can also run diagnostics on the hard drive itself to make sure everything is okay with it.
Here's a link to WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics tool: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=oEkpKY

Hope this helps you!

So my only solution is to either upgrade my ram(6gb right now) or just shut it off to save space ?
I have already (Avast)scanned my desktop,Cleaned it and everything. No virus was found,Got rid of Junk with disk cleaner and CCleaner.

If I set the ram lower or shut if off will it effect gaming or anything ?

and lets say I leave it as it is and it starts draining my space again is there a way to get back my Hdd Space without waiting for it to come back randomly ? Like this is the first time for me and it was draining my space for awhile and my space just came back yesterday I think its been about few weeks/month's when it started draining.

This subject has differing opinions. Rule of thumb used to be leave 10% free space. Some say 15%. With todays larger capacity drives it may not be necessary to reserve that much. The more RAM you have the less virtual memory you need. I have 16 gigs. running win7 on an ssd and have pagefile shut off completely. My system runs quick and flawless no matter how many apps I have open. Ultimately you'll have to decide what's best for your situation, but if you are near the 10% remaining "mark" you may want to consider additional storage.

I totally agree. Could a prog with a memory leak cause this to happen? Perhaps transient malware or hack?

Well I already did a Malware scan,Virus Scan, nothing came up did all the cleaning to free up junk and stuff.I also did a disk analyze with CCleaner, the 300gb+ lost in space I had came from the (Other Files Category) Which my head is still trying to figure out what in the world my space was going into, I did the Disk analyze thing when it was still draining, sorta wish I saved the info or a picture to show. I checked the size and stuff the largest was indeed PageFile but it was just around 6gb.

So I'm all good on it for now Thank you all for your answers.

[Quick question] If it starts draining again what should I check or do ? and Can I get back the drained space that was taken from me rather then waiting for it to come back someday.

This really depends on where it's gone.

It's possible that there's an application that's got a disk leak or something, and is just creating masses of temporary files that are removed on closing or a reboot.

What you can do to get the space back really depends on what's using the space in the first place.
