Hello, i got an Asus x550ln laptop 3 months ago with 4gb ram. My laptop has 1 slot for additional ram and every site i searched, it supports ram till 12 gb. Yesterday i bought a kingston 4gb ram 1600 mhz ddr3 sodimm supposedly working on my laptop. I tried numerous times get it on and back off to see if it will work but i had no luck. Is there any chance my lap won't support any additional ram? And if so why is there an additional slot and why the manufacturer doesn't say so on specs? I'm kinda desperate here so i would appreciate any answers and help.

Solution
A 10 second Google search brings up the specifications for your laptop which lists DDR3L for the memory:

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X550LN/specifications/

Might want to see if you can return or exchange your new SODIMM for a low-power version.
Have you tried the new card by itself, without the original installed? Perhaps the two memory modules are incompatible with each other? Did you match the specifications of the new module to the old before ordering? Also, since you know the original module that came installed in the laptop functions, you might consider trying it by itself in the other RAM slot to ensure both slots are functioning.

Well the original ram is built in i think so i can't really try things, or else i would already have done it. Yes i matched the specs of the old by running some tests and through some sites.

And a crazy thing i just noticed on CPU ID:
first picture without new ram on:

second picture with new ram on and cpu id recognizes it but laptop still not. Isn't that crazy?

And that's my main ram's specs i suppose:

I crossed into something significant. Maybe my laptop needs DDR3L on 1.35 v but i bought ddr3 1.5 v. Is that the problem? Maybe i bought the wrong one after all.

I am having the same issue IT reconizes it but Asus has it that anything in the expansion slot Overrules the Embbeded so add a 4gb stick makes it so u are using the New sticks ram INSTEAD OF the embedded itz pointless to install anything less then a 8GB stick
