They both cost me £120, I am leaning towards the 660 because I prefer nvidia drivers and therefore it's like cake replacing my 640 with it. I have looked at benchmarks and on game debate and they seem to so very close in terms of performance, I guess the bus width may be a deal breaker though.

I still can't believe they're selling a 660 for £120, on amazon and everywhere else the cheapest I can find for a Gigabyte 660 2gb is £128.

I understand that there's probably not much to worry about changing from Nvidia to AMD, but if there is not too much of a performance difference, I think I'll settle with a 660. Especially since it's sort of been flashing at me for the past 2 years since i first bought this PC. Mistakes were made i could have bought a better PC and a better config for roughly the same price, but my knowledge of what's important on a gaming PC (or a budget one at least) is lightyears ahead of what it was those 2 years ago. I'm looking to buy a decent card now, then make a budget PC around 7-8 years in the future :( Or maybe I'll keep this PC in 5 ish years time for half that price.

My speccs are:

CPU: Intel Core i5 3350P @ 3.10GHz
GPU: 1023MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 (NVIDIA)
Storage: 1863GB Seagate ST2000DM001-1CH164 (SATA)
PSU: 460 watts (Dell XPS 8500)
RAM: 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz
MOBO: Dell Inc. 0NW73C (CPU 1)
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit

I thought the 660 would consume more power, I think I'll go for the r9. Lol then I threw everything I said about prefetring Nvidia Drivers out the window.

r9 270 should be quite a bit better than gtx 660, gtx 750ti is better than 660 and r9 270 is better than gtx 750ti

EDIT: After looking at benchmarks 660 is actually more powerful than 750ti and roughly on par with the r9 270. It prob wouldnt matter too much which card you chose.

In terms of power consumption yeah the 750ti would win, but in terms of power, 750 ti is an entry league ish card, well so I've been told and read.

I don't think the power consumption is as much as you said, because it says it requires a 450 watt supply.
