Unable to connect some USB devices to my laptop

To start with, I've read dozens of threads regarding "this subject", but I've not found anyone with the same problem as me.

I've had an ASUS F550VB running win7 for almost 18 months, and I've never been able to connect some USB devices. Some devices works perfect (my mouse, keyboard, USB sticks, external HDDs, a gopro hero 3+), while some don't work (my old iphone, my android phone, my gopro hero). All those units work plug and play with all other computers I've tried them with, so I'm pretty certain the problem is with this computer. Of course I've tried all the different ports on the computer, and different USB cables.

When i connect one of the "un-connectable" devices, I get the usual "Installing device driver software" pop-up from the taskbar icon. It quickly changes to "device driver software was not successfully installed". When I click the pop-up windos, there is the name of the device as well as a red cross, with the text "No driver found" next to it.

If I go to the Device Manager, I can see the device under "Other devices", with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When I go to properties, the device status says "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)". I've tried uninstalling it in the device manager and reconnecting it, uninstalling it and rebooting, but nothing like that seems to work.

I have all the latest drivers for the computer, and I've even updated BIOS to the latest version. I'm running a genuine win7 64 bit OS.

Does anyone recognize this problem, and know what to do? I've spent countless hours googling about it and trying different things, but no luck at all so far :(!

Thankful for responses and best regards from sweden.

I have searched for a USB driver for my laptop, but it seems it is included in win7. I have also tried to look for drivers for the iphone/android/gopro, but I can't find any. The problem remains that some USB devices work properly and some not, while they work at other computers.

Is there anu generic USB drivers available?

Is it possible that ii is a hardware problem?

The problem is that there are not any specific USB drivers, so there is nothing to reinstall. I hace tried reinstalling every driver and even adding some without results!
