Hi. I'm trying to build a PC with a budget of ~£400.

The PC I'm trying to build has to be good for gaming (no intensive gaming, just things like Minecraft or Terraria), developing with devkitPro (mostly in C), video editing, and putting Linux distros on USBs... I know it's a lot to ask, but can someone help me?

..And it has to be running Windows 8.1.

Huh, ok I tried to squeeze in some parts. This should do it.
It's a bit over your budget tho, if you don't plan on playing newest games then 4GB of ram will be enough.
OS is the most expensive part here lol

Thanks, but I'm not marking this as answered until I get a computer that's somewhere in range of £400. The maximum price can be £450.

Also, I don't mind if you use an AMD processor.

Well this pentium is better than those quad-core AMD CPUs and it's cheaper. Here's same thing with 4GB of ram and 500gb HDD.

Solution

It is going to be hard to find a decent build for under 400 quids.

Firstly, you should consider saving up just 100 quid to boost your build to ''next-gen quality''. Getting outdated hardware is not a solution for long. This is atleast what you should be aiming for, this will help you play any game comparable between Xbox One and PS4 quality.

It just doesn't have a copy of Windows. These are new components, the Athlon's CPU's and R7 graphics are outdated. The motherboard posted above isn't any good either. I would think about it. This PC will give you great performance for the price.
