Dell tells me my 084J0R motherboard won't handle greater than 8GB (2 slots) (Windows 7 Pro OS). They said I should find a motherboard product #'s 14GRJ or 6M1YN with the same bios as the 084J0R. They said these boards would handle 16GB. Dead end on those product #'s. Anyone got a suggestion and or successful experience on in just pushing the current memory to 16GB on this motherboard??

Crucial.com lists a 16GB kit as compatible and it's usually very reliable. I also found lots of references online referencing a max of 8GB supported, but 16GB installed and running. Only way to know for sure is to try it. Buy the DRAM through Amazon and if it doesn't work you can just return it.

THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE, BUT I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE 16GIG KIT ON CRUCIAL. IF YOU HAVE AN ITEM NUMBER OR CAN FORWARD A LINK, THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

My bad - I went back through my browser history and found the page at Crucial, but it was for a different computer that I was researching. Sorry for the confusion. I guess that's a good reason for me not to post at midnight. Crucial says it's not compatible, and that 8GB is the max.

I did however find lots of references to I660 systems with 12GB and 16GB, although it looks to be CPU-dependent, which makes sense. Which CPU do you have?
