I am new to the site, I decided I needed to sign up as Google was always bringing me back here
My question is I have an older motherboard, the M2N-Sli http://. I was reading on the Asus website and I came to the conclusion that the best in slot CPU for me would be Phenom X4 9850. I have updated the Bios in preparation for upgrading from my Athlon x2 64 6400+.
I haven't invested a lot into this old machine except 20.00 dollars for some DDR2 ram. I don't want to upgrade to an AM3 CPU, the ram I purchased recently would be worthless then.
So here is my question, in your expert opinions what is the best CPU I can upgrade my Athlon x2 6400+ plus to without going to AM3? I am not worried about peak performance, I just play some computer games that get choked by the older CPU I have currently.
I saw an add for Phenom X4 9850 going for 50 dollars on ebay, I consider that a pretty good uprade with little investment.
