Hi,
i was building my PC and everything was doing good, but something strange happened when i was instaling my OS(Windows 8.1 trial) on my SSD but there was no option for installing on my secondary HDD, it wasnt shown as choice, so i installed it on SSD no problem, but after install i saw no secondary drive in "My computer". Even in UEFI there wasnt any HDD shown, so i thought that it wasnt connected properly and i connected SATA cable to another socket on my motherboard. It actually worked and in UEFI there was harddrive connected. Problem was that in Windows i couldnt access my HDD´s space, so again no HDD in "My computer". I googled that i need to make partition and format it afterwards through Administrative tools. And now it began to make problems, partition was made but it couldn´t format it. Now it´s in RAW file format and i can´t access it nor format. (I am not a native speeker, sorry for my englando)

Hey, megatrans!

I'm very sorry to hear about your issues with your new WD HDD. Can you tell me the model of the drive first?
RealBeast is right. You should get in touch with our tech support and RMA it.
You will be provided with a replacement product and the tech support will give you further assistance with any questions that you may have.

What size hard drive?

Did you initialize the drive in disk management using GPT or MBR?

I would delete the existing partition on the drive in disk management and then re-create it using MBR unless the drive is over 2TB, then use GPT to partition the drive. Then you should be able to format in NTFS.

Its size is 1TB. I used GPT, i will try MBR and then format, wish me luck. Thanks for reply :).

I ran diagnostics tool by western digital and it failed quick test(it failed to read test element), i think my HDD is corrupted and i need to replace it with another one.

Yes, unfortunately if it failed the WD diagnostic I would RMA it for a new one.

They don't fail often when new, at least not due to anything that WD did, but they will stand behind the warranty.

One of the WD forum members may stop by and add further advise, as I added that tag to your thread. Good luck and nice work on the build.
