Graphics Card Display Port not working

I want to connect my computer to my tv via HDMI cable. The problem is that when I have the HDMI cord connected into the the tv and into my gpu, it says it has no signal. So I supposed that the HDMI port just didn't work. So I bought a Displayport to HDMI adapter and tried that out. Sadly, I had the same results. I already have 2 monitors plugged in via DVI, and I unplugged them to test out if that was the problem. I tried to plug it into my working monitor with an HDMI instead of the DVI, so I know its either a graphics card problem or a software problem.Thanks to anyone that is willing to help.

What do you mean by they won't go in all the way and "something to do with every GPU". They should go in most of the way. The HDMI should bottom out the same way it does on your monitor or tv, if it doesn't there is an issue with the ports. Most likely there are bent pins in the two ports that don't seat correctly. I guess this could happen by trying to install HDMI in a displayport socket or visa versa, but I've not seen it before. I suppose trying to install them upside down could cause an issue as well.

I was pretty sure that was the problem, thanks for the answer. Also, the HDMI port and Displayport cables wont go in all the way. Only half of it will go in. I think its something to do with every gpu but i'm not sure.

No problem. You might want to take a closer look at both the socket and the cable. You might just need a different cable. If your motherboard has onboard graphics you might see how it acts when plugged in there which should tell you if it's the socket on the GPU or the cable. If it has the same issues there, it's probably the cable.
