Hello,
I just got a new set of components to rebuild my pc:
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46
Video: EVGA 02G-P4-3751-KR
Memory: Team Vulcan 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
And some other parts.
I got all these things assembled and fired up the machine. Instead of booting it made one beep, a pause, and another two beeps...
Tried repeating the video card, the memory, and my old video card, and none of those things worked.
After a while I tried the old video card in the bottom pcie x16 slot, and removed the case headphone Jack connection from the motherboard and it booted and I was able to install Windows.
Put the New video card back into the bottom slot and it still works.
I heard the bottom slot is actually only x8 pcie, though, so I wonder if maybe this means the x16 slot is bad?
Of course it could have been the headphone Jack the whole time for all I know. The stupid case wires never match the motherboard instructions.
Basically if anyone has more troubleshooting tips, or can say for sure I need a New mobo, I'd like to hear them. This isn't my first rodeo but I don't build New pc's all the time either.
