Anti static wrist band?

I might be thinking of buying one, and I read a lot where people say connect to a PSU?

Can I not simply just clip it onto the a PC case?

Leave the power supply plugged in but not turned on of course. That'll earth the power supply and the PC case. Clip to the case.

You just need to ground yourself, just connect it to bare metal for the best outcome but attatching it to your case will be just fine. If you do not want to purchase one, you can just discharge static by touching the case. It is safer to use anti static but i built my computer without one, on carpet so i don't really believe you need them. Just dont roll around in a wool coat and poke your components, you should be fine.

Attaching it to the metal on your case is recommended.
You could simply touch the metal on your case while working though, as this will do the same job without having to purchase the wristband.

Are you building pcs a lot? All you need to do is hook the PSU to a grounded outlet, then attach the clip to say the PSU fan grill.

If you don't deal with building/troubleshooting pcs a lot then it's not needed. I have build pcs for years and just use the computer case as a grounder.

You don't have to waste money on a wrist band, unless you have a ridiculous amount of static electricity. Just touch a grounded piece of metal or the computer case (don't touch the computer case when the motherboard is in it to ground yourself).

It doesn't hurt to have one, I built my PC without one but I recently just picked one up when ordering some parts cause it was only $5. Better to be safe than sorry, and now you'll have it when you upgrade parts in the future!
