hi everyone, i am having a capacity problem with my c:\ hard disk, it's just keep reducing the capacity and i just met this problem for around 2 weeks.
i have searched some threads with similar issue like mine to receive the advice to check the drive with windirstat software
However, the result showed that i only used up 52gb of the disk but in properties it said that i have used up 80 gb of space
here is the picture for evidence:

Does anyone know what happen to my laptop ? How do i fix this ?

Solution
Maybe you have enabled system restore. It might be saving restore points on that space. Also the pagefile and the hibernate files eats up the space which are not shown here.

In some thread i have searched, normally the pagefile and hibernate files will appear in the windirstat's result too, i also tried turn off hide hidden folder option to find those files but with no result, so maybe it doesn't true in my case.

You'll need to turn off "Hide protected operating system files " as well to see most of the files. But the restore points and some other data which are on "System volume information" folder are not accessible and that's the way microsoft has built it.

Hey you have not cleaned your recycle bin !!!

Okay,i just cleaned my recycle bin and it did free up more than 2gb from the bin,the problem still exist though
And i did turn off "Hide protected operating system files" when i check, the system volume information is truly inaccessible
So,there are no solution for this ? :(

Oh hey,it is really does because of system restore point to cause the capacity to reduce ,i tried to find more about this and found out that system restore does cost around 30gb of free space of my computer.I will try to turn this off to see if the reduced space will be recover.Thank you for your trouble

Do you use Kaspersys? I had a similar issue and reports were being saved on my C : drive to the point that system was crashing. Figured I would ask because I had no clue that it automatically was set up that way.
