S.O.S !!!!!!!!!!!
WD my passport 1TB doesnt allow me to copy files/Folders from it into another external drive(Due to a device error number 0x800701E3) and when i try to open a folder it says that there is a fatal error device hardware :/
Please tell me what can i do to save it!!!!!!!!

You have a choice - you can either replace the PCB on the hard drive or send it for expensive data recovery. This error is normally caused by the PCB on the drive (that can be replaced by an identical, working one from a 1tb my passport drive) that has stopped working for some reason. I had something like this happen to a 2tb My Passport I have, I replaced the PCB with another I sourced and it works fine now. Good luck.

Thank you for your answer!! But unfortunately i have no technical skills. So replacing the PCB by myself sounds too tricky for me. Is this the only solution??? other than sending it for an expensive data recovery of course...

Yes, I'm afraid so. If you have a tech savvy friend they may be able to do it for you but you don't really have any other options as WD My Passports don't have a sata port, just a usb 3 one.

If you are feeling up to replacing the PCB, it is a straightforward swap with only screws to undo. There are tutorials online but other than that I'm afraid you can't really do anything

Hey there, melziv!

Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your WD My Passport.

To be honest this doesn't sound good.
I'd suggest to test the drive using WD's Data LifeGuard diagnostics utility:

Check if the drive passes the quick test as well as the extended one.

Your external HDD is hardware encrypted, so taking it out of the enclosure will void the warranty and make the drive's data unaccessible.
I'd also recommend getting in touch with our tech support: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=EaOaaG
Your drive might need to RMA-ed: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=RvGZ1I

Thanks SuperSoph_WD! The tool was useful for diagnostics for my WD my Passport 1TB. Unfortunately, it produced a S.M.A.R.T. error and it's out of warranty so I won't be able to avail the RMA service.
