I am having a problem installing windows 8 on a computer I previously had linux mint on.

I changed BIOS boot priority to Disc Drive> SSD Because I had linux on SSD.

Then, I went into windows installing process, but at the "Partition" Step, I was given two options:

Drive 0 partition 1, which had 207.7 GB and had the type: System, with no free space
Drive 0, Unallocated Space with 15.9 GB, and had 15.9 GB free

My ssd was 240 GB.

I can only delete partition 1, or make a new partition on the other.

Both said "Windows couldn't be installed on this device"

Please help, I really can't take my drivers not working on linux with my new build.

Hi

Is the object dual boot Linux and windows 8

Or remove Linux then install windows 8

If latter all Linux partitions need to be removed then allow win 8 to create its own partitions

What size is hard drive?
What size ssd?
Is your windows 32 bit or 64 bit?
Important if hard drive exceeds 2 TB

You may need to temporary disconnect hard drive if it was previously boot drive.

Sometimes windows can not remove Linux boot loaders and you need to wipe MBR or first sector of boot drive

MBR Wizard v 3 is free command line product which can wipe beginning of drive

My hard drive is a TOSHIBA 2 TB drive. (Has never been connected to the computer, just came in this morning)
My ssd is Kingston 240 GB
64-Bit windows
Goal: Uninstall linux mint, install windows 8.1
So, what are the steps?
