Undervolting a i7 4790k

Hello

So here I am undervolting my i7 4790k because my Gelid solution healer is very lacking. Seem to be running stable @ 4.4 GHz with 2400 MHz memory (XMP PROF#1) @ 1.120V.

Been running Aida for 20 minutes, heres a screen:

All looks good right? I assume no harm in undervolting if system doesnt crash on 100% load?

nope, no harm. so long as it is stable, you are good

undervolting is perfectly fine, the system will BSOD if it has a problem.

However, if you want to make sure you have nearly %100 stability then run the stress tester for around 6 hrs.

I'm glad to hear that. Is it possible temps will shift from these low 70s to higher unreliable temps if I leave it running for 6 hours?

idling or under full load? if just idling, u will be fine for sure. full load could have a temperature creep up after some minutes.

I mean if I leave a stresstest like Aida's running for over 6 hours. I've been running it stable for 20 minutes with no core going higher then 73 degrees. But I'm worried if I leave if for 6 hours something bad could happen?

should hit max heat after 20 minutes, depending on what is cooling it. depending on the size of what is drawing heat from the cpu.

for example, any air cooler will show you its max temp quite quickly where as a water cooler with a large amount of water in the loop could creep up over a larger period of time.

I see that makes sense. I should be in the safe zone then. I'm using a Gelid solution 2 cooler, reasonably cheap.
