I recently upgraded my CPU an motherboard and did not re install Windows 7. I had an A10 5800k APU with an A78M-E35 motherboard and I upgraded to an i7 4790k with a Z97-A motherboard. When I upgraded my specs, I didn't see much of a difference. I still could not run Adobe After Effects in real time. I was really disappointed in the performance of my very expensive CPU. I had noticed that most people would re install the OS after switching motherboards and CPU. I am not sure if this is the problem or not. I have an external HDD to move all of the stuff into(Steam, Sony Vegas, Adobe, etc.) Will this work and fix my problem? Thanks

Solution
If you did not reinstall Windows the most likely cause is outdated drivers... it may be running on default drivers that were already in the system... Your options are:
1. Download the motherboard drivers from the Z97-A motherboard product page / support / downloads
2. Install a Driver Utility; SlimDrivers does a good job without adding adware but you'll need to disable it's automatic settings or uninstall it.
