Hey all, I'm in need of some trouble shooting help.
Just took my fully functioning system, transplanted it into a brand new big case (Corsair 780t) with a new PSU (Antec HCP 1000w) and I'm no longer able to boot all the way into Windows.
a) if I have my SSD plugged in to boot from, the system dies partway through Windows boot up (not shown in video, but can be seen on the monitor I have attached) Video can be seen here.

b) If I leave the SSD unplugged (so not planning on booting all the way into Windows), it instead stays on and the cpu fan takes off like a jet engine after a bit. The video ends where I panic and shut down.

1 spot where I had trouble in the migration - in the old case, the backplate for the cpu heatsink was mounted directly onto the case chassis with 4 screws behind the motherboard. In the new case this was impossible, because it is much larger and has a cut out there rather than the back wall. (and a big gap for cable management) I mounted it freestanding by holding it in place against the ear of the motherboard and screwing the heatsink into it from the front. (pics attached)
a) backplate off, looking on in trepidation

b) backplate on, heatsink is attached on the front side

c) front pic, heatsink/fan attached

is this the root of my problems? I should note, doing this necessitated removing the heatsink at one point and I didn't have thermal paste on hand to do a fresh application.
I'm not an expert, so I'm not able to tell if the cpu is overheating (from me messing it up, say) or if the board is shorting out, or what have you. Help!
Any help diagnosing the problem and fixing it greatly appreciated! I just want to get up and running again :/ I can provide additional info/pics/video at request.
sincerely, a helpless n00b
edit: pic links fixed... embed wouldn't work dunno why, oh well
