Just as the title says, my computer tells me that I have a Radeon HD 7970, for example when I use cpu-z and go to graphics it says "Radeon HD 7970", but that is not the card I have! I have a R9 280X Gigabyte 3GB OC Edition, and I have no idea what to do here! Please help!

You can relax... You do realize that the R9 280X is actually the 7970.. that's why it says that. I have CPU-Z and it says the same thing with my card. Just open up the AMD CCC and go to Hardware.. that will tell you what card series you have...

well are you sure you did not get ripped off? as a paint job is possiable to make those who are not familer with the PCB layout to think they are buying one thing when it is another cheaper one ie scamming.
Thus check that it is actually a R9 280X and not a Radeon 7970.
After you find out which it actually is and if it is the R9 280X go to the AMD driver download site and download the drivers for your OS for the R9 280X and that should fix it.
IF it doesnt then you have a defective BIOS on it that is saying one thing when it is another reduceing your preformance.

And cpu-z doesn't care about the number of fans! It only identifies the chip on the card.
