Hello, I have a few questions regarding my overclock, here are my specs and results:
CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 965 C3
Cooler: Thermaltake Frio Silent 12
Motherboard: Asrock 970 Extreme4 ( 4+1 power phase )
RAM: 2x4GB Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz CL9
PSU: Seasonic SS-620W Bronze
Graphics: Sapphire HD 7850 1 GB @ 1100 MHz / 1300 MHz stock voltage
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS-I with 2x120mm fans ( front intake and back exhaust )
Here's what I did:
I raised the CPU NB voltage from 1.1v to 1.125v, then the CPU NB and HT Link from 2000 MHz to 2400 MHz
I also overclocked my 965 to 3.8 GHz @ 1.4v, it used to run at 3.4 GHz @ 1.3v. I ran Prime95 for 40 minutes using Small FFTs. Here are my temps:
Idle CPU temp: 32C
Idle Core temp: 30C
Load CPU temp: 58C
Load Core temp: 54C
I tested it for 10 minutes at 1.375v aswell and it seemed stable but I decided to bump up the voltage 2 notches just in case.
So my questions are, does the CPU NB need more voltage? Windows takes a bit longer to load since I did that. (Black screen for a few seconds before start screen appears)
And also, my CPU temps are higher than my Core temps, does that mean my motherboard is just shit or is it a defective sensor?
