A question about SSD/HDD

Im going to get a SSD and install a new Windows on it then install my other HDD 7200rmp but that has Windows 7 Pro on it?, How do i get my SSD to boot windows without the HDD booting up Windows?, I want to reformat the HDD when i get things i really need off it first.

Install the OS on the SSD with only the SSD connected.
When it is all working, verify in the BIOS that the SSD (and maybe DVD) are the only things in the boot order.
Then reconnect the HDD.

It won't try to boot from it.

You need to go into BIOS and set the SSD as the 1st boot option and that will make it boot first.

Typically something like "Boot Order"

Sometimes under a section tilted "Boot". It will be different depending on your motherboard so its hard to say exactly where without having the same motherboard as you.

SSD, and optionally DVD. Just leave the HDD off.

With the HDD not in the boot order, it will not attempt to boot from that.

Yes, you can leave USB in there if desired. The main issue is not booting from the old HDD. Leave that one out.

The only thing that matters is the SSD is number 1 on the list. Everything else on the boot list doesn't really matter. It's pretty simple really, when you start you're computer the BIOS is going to look at the list, start at the first device, and ask "hey are you bootable?". If yes then it boots to that device and it's done. If no then it moves to the next device on the list and so on until it finds a bootable device. If no device is found then you get the ever so fun "no bootable device found" message.
