So okay guys. I've seen many posts about this topic but I cant find the answer.. so this is the situation..

I have my old 2gb ram ddr3 on the mobo. and when i add my new ddr3 ram it wont boot. the computer start but the monitor and keyboard dont.

so I tried many ways. I tried to reseat them. but same results. tried to place the new ddr3 ram alone and it worked. but when they are joined up together they wont work.. tried to place the old ram in the dimm 1 it worked but in dimm 2 it didnt, same in the new ram..

so my conclusion is the dimm 2 memory slot is broken or not enought psu.. (cause i have a crappy psu because i dont have a gpu)

any advice guys

Im trying to buy a gaming rig this march so solving this problem with my new ram will save me $50. cause if i cant fix this problem with the ram and motherboard.. im planning to buy a whole new motherboard.

Any tips guys, please help me I'm still new to building a pc.

P.S: Sorry for the long post and bad english.
Edit: They are the same ddr3 1333 mhz

Solution
imo means "in my opinion".

From the testing that's been done it appears the second DIMM slot may be faulty. But check the slot closely for any damage, dust etc. Could try cleaning slot with compressed air, this may help.

If still can't get the second slot to work with a DIMM then the slot/motherboard is most likely faulty. Updating BIOS and/or increasing PSU capacity is unlikely to change the situation, but you could try anyway.

May simply be that the sticks of DRAM aren't compatible, try the new stick in each slot and let us know the results for each, might be a slot problem, could be the MC (memory controller), could even be the CPU cooler (if a third party cooler), let us know the mobo, CPU, cooler and model #(s) of the DRAM

The Ram slot is clearly the problem, I tried the new one in both slot but that one slot is definitely faulty.
I'll be buying new mobo this august so thanks for the concern moderator :)
Mobo is EMAXX H61M something
i3 2100 and both 1333 2gb ram
