Been using this toshiba v73600-C 1tb for about 2 years now for storage of my photos files.
I use my Mac (new acquisition) to save those photos files & to do some post processing. After the initial post processing, i then use my PC (Window based) to do the subsequent post processing. When done, I will use my Mac to view as well as to upload photos onto Facebook & others. I noticed the message on Mac on a few occasion recently warning me that I did not safely remove the external hard disk properly. As i tried to open the photos file today on my Mac, there was not detection. When i tried to access those file via my PC, it prompted me reformat the disk before using it. I am in a fix as reformatting will erase all my photos collection over the years. Would appreciate your expert advise to help me resolve this crisis. Thanking you in anticipation

Solution
This is most likely because the partition table has got corrupted by the Mac, it won't work in windows because you are probably using HFS+, a Mac file system windows PC's can't read. Try looking for some data recovery products for Mac, sorry, I can't help with this - I'm a windows person.
