I have a 64gb Transcend SDXC that I bought for use with my Open Pandora handheld. I soon discovered it was exFAT (only after loading it up with music and apps) and this is some proprietary file system not supported by Linux, so I figured I would format it to ext2.
I first tried this on my Win7 PC using the program MiniTool Partition Wizard. After the process completed I was shocked to see that my card had a max capacity of only ~55gb! Where did the other 5gb go? It was ~60gb originally. I put it in my Pandora anyways, thinking maybe Windows just had trouble with the ext2 file system. It too showed a max capacity of ~55gb.
Ugh, I reformatted only this time decided to use the tool Gparted since I can run it right on the Pandora. Formatting was successful, but both Linux and Windows show the max capacity to be ~60gb (what it should be) and that there is 1gb being used, so only 59 available. Is there something I am missing? What is this mysterious gigabyte being used for?
Help is appreciated.
