Hey I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to computers, so I apologize if I sound stupid, but anyways, I bought some more ram recently for my custom pc, Its DDR3 which my computer wants, Basically I added it then I started my PC and it worked for about 2-3 minutes then my computer turned itself off then on again and went to a screen saying I need to repair my PC, Im on windows 8.1, anyone have a clue on how to install RAM without windows 8.1 freaking out?

Ram I bought: 1x4gb Stick DDR3 1600mhz, G.Skill RIPJAWS Z
Ram I Have: HyperX Beast Kingston 2x4gb DDR3 2400mhz

The problem is the RAM is not compatible with each other. You cannot just use any RAM together, even if they are both DDR3, even if they both ran at the same speed it would still likely cause problems. RAM from different companies is not meant to be used together.

Long story short, there is no way you can really use those different RAM sticks together. To tell you the truth also, you really don't need to. Unless you are running several virtual machines or doing a lot of heavy content creation work, you will never make use of more than 8GB of RAM, so the extra RAM is a waste even had it worked. You are best to return it.
